Sam began her 37-year legal career in Alaska in 1971.  She retired in August 2008.  Sam has been a member of NALS since 1984.  She has served as chapter president of Lewis County and East King County; as treasurer for the state association on three different occasions; as Certification Director, Education Chairman for the state association, as well as several other chapter and state committees over the years. 

Sam’s hobbies include traveling, reading, fishing, and shooting.  She is the proud owner of a custom made 243 Ackley Improved rifle, with a hot pink, silver flecked stock, which was featured in Time magazine in 2000.  She is a member of the 500-Yard club, which means she hit her target at over 500 yards.  The actual yardage was 549.
